Course Details

This online course is designed to provide education professionals with a basic foundation in recognising, responding to, and helping prevent child neglect within an educational setting. It builds essential awareness of how neglect may present in school-aged children and offers practical guidance for identifying and addressing concerns early and effectively.

Participants will gain a clear understanding of what child neglect is, including its various forms and the ways it can impact a child’s learning, development, and wellbeing. The course explores how to identify the signs of neglect, understand its short and long-term consequences, and recognise the risk factors that may increase a child's vulnerability. It also covers the appropriate steps for reporting concerns and highlights strategies to help prevent neglect within schools and other educational environments.

In addition, the course emphasises the importance of supporting families affected by neglect and provides information about resources that can assist them.

This course is intended to raise awareness and build foundational understanding of child neglect in educational settings. To meet full Safeguarding in Education Training requirements, we recommend completing our comprehensive ‘Safeguarding & Child Protection in Education’ online training.
